A disastrous afternoon in the capital condemned the Terras to a heavy 5–1 defeat against Uxbridge.…
The hosts struck with their very first meaningful attack in the 17th minute. Finding space down Weymouth’s left flank, Uxbridge squared the ball across the six-yard box where Okine-Peters had the simplest of tasks to tap home.
Weymouth struggled to respond, and the damage worsened when George Moore capitalised on lax defending to smash the ball in at the near post. The Terras appealed for a foul in the build-up, claiming a high boot from Moore, but the referee was unmoved. Moore nearly doubled his tally moments later, again escaping down the right, only to be denied by the Weymouth goalkeeper’s feet.
After the interval, the Terras showed signs of life. Tom Bearwish pulled one back in style, drilling home a superb effort from 25 yards to give the travelling support hope.
It lasted barely 90 seconds.
A free-kick on the edge of the area was clinically dispatched by Moore for his second of the game, restoring Uxbridge’s commanding lead. Ten minutes from time, a poorly defended corner led to Montague bundling in a fourth—appearing to come off his back. The misery was compounded three minutes later when Moore converted from the penalty spot to complete his hat-trick.
It was a sobering afternoon for Weymouth, who now face significant work if they are to steer clear of yet another relegation battle. Performances of this nature simply cannot continue.
