Concerns over potholes, litter and road safety in Littlemoor have prompted action from local representatives, with temporary repairs now being prepared on one of the area’s most affected roads. Cllr Louie O’Leary recently highlighted ongoing problems on Louviers Road, describing the condition of the road as “very frustrating” for residents. A full resurfacing is planned for late spring or summer, but in the meantime, efforts are being made to address the worst defects.
Residents have since confirmed that progress is beginning, with one local reporting that Louviers Road has now been marked out for temporary repairs.
The councillor said the surge in issues follows recent storm damage, which has reportedly driven highway-related queries up from around 2,000 to 7,000 across the area, placing pressure on council resources.
Alongside potholes, a number of wider concerns have been raised by the community. These include broken kerbstones and debris on Littlemoor Road, smashed glass along Magnolia Road, and litter hotspots.
Some residents have welcomed action already taken. One parent thanked the councillor for clearing loose wall debris, saying it had posed a risk to children using the pavement.
However, others have pointed to further issues needing attention. Questions were raised about the condition of Cedar Drive and surrounding roads, with reassurance given that resurfacing work is scheduled there later this year.
Parking and visibility concerns have also been highlighted, particularly around Culliford Way and Bincombe Rise, where large vehicles parked near corners are said to create dangerous blind spots. In response, Cllr O’Leary noted that enforcement is limited unless road markings such as double yellow lines are in place, adding that many roads were not designed for current traffic levels.
Despite frustrations, some residents expressed appreciation for the efforts being made, while others continue to call for wider improvements to infrastructure and safety across Littlemoor.
