Dorset Council awards over £137,000 to Nothe Fort for essential repairs Weymouth, Dorset – Dorset Council has awarded just over £137,000 in grant funding to support vital roof repairs and improved protection works at Nothe Fort. The funding will help safeguard the historic fort against the elements, ensuring it remains one of Dorset’s most loved visitor attractions.

Situated in an exposed coastal location, the fort requires ongoing maintenance to protect the structure and its collections from weather damage.

The investment will help secure the future of the attraction, supporting local jobs and businesses while enabling more community events, educational activities and school visits. Nothe Fort plays an important role in the county’s tourism offer and wider cultural life.

By investing in the preservation of this much-valued heritage site, Dorset Council is helping ensure it can continue to welcome visitors and serve the community for years to come.
