After nearly two decades at the heart of the local community, Fancys Family Farm CIC has announced it will permanently close its doors.
The much-loved farm, which has welcomed families, school groups and visitors for 18 years, has been run by a dedicated team of family members, friends, colleagues and volunteers. Together they created a space where children and adults could experience animals and nature up close—often for the very first time.
In a heartfelt message to supporters, the team explained that the decision had not been easy.
The farm has faced increasing financial pressures in recent years, alongside the physical demands of running a community farm. After years of hard work and dedication, the team said the time had come to step back.
Despite the closure, there is positive news for the future of the site.
The land will soon be taken over by Porters Farm, which plans to reopen the venue with new ideas, animals and a fresh vision for the community.
The new operators say they are committed to continuing the spirit of the farm while introducing improvements and renovations to the site. Work will begin immediately, with plans to reopen in May 2026.
For many families in the area, Fancys Farm has been a place of memorable moments—from children meeting animals such as wallabies and goats to visitors enjoying the simple joy of connecting with nature.
The team behind the farm also highlighted the important role it has played supporting vulnerable people, offering a safe space where spending time with animals could bring comfort and wellbeing.
Although the farm is closing in its current form, the founders say they will remain living on site and look forward to seeing the next chapter unfold.
They ended their message with a heartfelt thank you to the community for nearly two decades of support—and encouraged everyone to back the new venture as it begins.
