Fundraisers in Weymouth have presented a cheque for £2,187.02 to Marie Curie following a series of community sporting events held in memory of Tina Theobald.
The money was raised through a darts competition at The Park Hotel pub and a pool event at Snookes, organised by local supporters including Martyn Theobald, Mike Fletcher of The Park Hotel, and Austin Peter Wainwright of Snookes
Representatives gathered at The Park Hotel to formally hand over the cheque to Marie Curie, with the funds raised through competitions held during the past year.
Organisers said the events were arranged to honour the memory of Tina Theobald while also supporting the charity’s work providing care for people living with terminal illness.
The combined darts and pool events raised £2,187.02, with organisers thanking everyone who took part, donated or supported the fundraising activities.
They said the presentation took some time to arrange as they wanted to ensure the money would be used to support people in Weymouth and Portland, particularly following the loss of Marie Curie nursing services in Weymouth after NHS contract changes last year.
Organisers have confirmed they are now planning their next darts fundraising event in June.
