Weymouth is inviting families and explorers of all ages to step back in time with the brand-new Weymouth Fossil Trail, organised by #WeAreWeymouth. Set against the stunning backdrop of Dorset’s renowned Jurassic Coast, this interactive trail is a chance to discover fossils, local history, and hidden gems along the way.
Adventurers can start the trail at the Rembrandt Leisure Club, where scanning a QR code will guide them along the route. With both indoor and outdoor locations included, visitors can enjoy a mix of exploration, education, and a little adventure—all while learning about the region’s remarkable prehistoric past.
The Jurassic Coast, stretching 95 miles from East Devon to Dorset, is famed for its extraordinary geology and fossil finds spanning 185 million years of Earth’s history. From iconic coastal landforms to ancient rock formations, the area has been a centre for geological study and education for over 200 years.
Indoor locations on the trail include local favourites like The Palm House, Howleys Toymaster, Nautico Lounge, Hotel Rembrandt, Fossil Beach, Jubilee Hotel, Boss Miniatures & Gaming, and Weymouth Library, each offering unique opening times.
Whether you’re a seasoned fossil hunter or a curious first-time explorer, the trail offers something for everyone. Lace up your shoes, grab your family, and uncover the ancient wonders of Jurassic Dorset.
