Community Safety Patrol Officers in Weymouth were involved in two significant incidents this week, preventing potential harm and supporting colleagues from Dorset Police.
During a routine patrol, officers intercepted a fight between two adult males. One of the individuals was reportedly armed with broken glass. Acting swiftly and calmly, patrol officers successfully persuaded the male to drop the weapon before any injuries were sustained. Their prompt intervention prevented the situation from escalating further.
In a separate incident, the team assisted Dorset Police in searching for a male reported to be using threatening behaviour at Weymouth Library. Community Safety Officers quickly located the individual and relayed his position to Dorset Police. The male was subsequently detained to assist officers with their enquiries.
A spokesperson for the Community Safety Patrol praised the team’s professionalism and vigilance, highlighting their continued commitment to keeping Weymouth safe.
