The zip wire at Grove Play Area on Portland has been closed after a defect was discovered.
Portland Town Council confirmed the cable runway has developed a serious fault, which means the equipment cannot currently be used and the seat has been removed to prevent anyone attempting to use it.
The council said the decision was taken as a safety precaution while work begins to source the necessary replacement parts needed to repair the equipment.
The zip wire is one of the play features at the Grove Play Area and the closure is expected to disappoint some users, particularly during the Easter holiday period when families often visit the site.
Portland Town Council said it recognises the equipment is popular with visitors and local families who regularly use the play area.
The council added that efforts are already underway to obtain the parts required for repairs and the aim is to restore the equipment as soon as possible once the defect has been resolved.
