A 56-year-old man from Weymouth has been jailed for 12 years after admitting a series of violent sexual offences. Simon Evans was also handed an additional three-year extended licence period and will remain on the sex offenders’ register for life.
The offences took place overnight between Friday 20 June and Saturday 21 June 2025 at an address in Weymouth. The victim was unconscious during the attack, which was both prolonged and violent. Evans recorded the incident by taking photos and videos, and later made threats to share the footage.
The matter was reported to Dorset Police on Sunday 22 June 2025, and Evans was arrested later that day. Although the victim was unable to support the investigation, officers pursued an evidence-led case. This included forensic analysis of Evans’ mobile phone, DNA evidence, searches of his address, and examination of the recorded material.
Evans was charged with rape, sexual assault, and 11 counts of sexual assault by penetration. He pleaded guilty to all offences and was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday 20 March 2026.
Police Staff Investigator Samantha Sheppard said Evans carried out a “prolonged and horrific” assault and praised the work of detectives in securing justice through strong evidence.
She added that tackling violence against women and girls remains a priority, and emphasised that cases can still proceed even when victims feel unable to support an investigation. She also encouraged victims to come forward, assuring they will be supported by specially trained officers.
