Weymouth Beach is being made more accessible ahead of the summer season. New matting has been laid on the sand to help wheelchair users reach the seafront. Free beach wheelchairs are also available to hire. The council says the improvements aim to make the beach welcoming for everyone.
Weymouth Town Council has introduced new accessibility improvements at Weymouth Beach ahead of the busy summer season.
The council’s resort team has installed fresh matting on the sand near the Beach Office to improve access for wheelchair users.
The matting allows easier movement across the beach, helping more people enjoy the seafront.
At the same time, the town’s beach wheelchairs have been serviced and prepared for use.
Two beach wheelchairs are available and can be hired free of charge.
They are designed to help people with mobility difficulties access the sand and shoreline.
Residents and visitors can book a wheelchair by contacting the Beach Office directly.
The council says the improvements are part of ongoing efforts to make Weymouth Beach more accessible and inclusive for everyone.
