East Lulworth saw police disperse a large unauthorised music event after around 2,000 people gathered overnight on Saturday.
Officers were first called at about 11.45pm on April 4, with more than 100 vehicles reported in the area as crowds arrived. Police remained at the scene throughout the day and into the evening, taking action to bring the event to a safe close, including seizing sound equipment under legal powers.
During the operation, 10 people were arrested for offences including driving under the influence and assaulting an emergency worker. Dorset Police said officers faced a “violent and hostile reception”, with missiles thrown at them while they worked to control the situation.
The force said unlicensed events are illegal and can cause serious disruption to local communities, adding that such incidents “will not be tolerated”. Officers thanked residents for their patience, acknowledging the disruption caused to those living nearby and visiting the area.
Support was provided by officers from other forces, helping to safely end the gathering. Police have confirmed further enquiries will now take place, with evidence being reviewed to identify any additional offences.
