A man has sadly died following a medical incident on Weymouth seafront. Emergency services were called to The Esplanade on Monday evening (March 2) after reports that a man required urgent medical attention. Police officers and paramedics attended the scene shortly after 5pm
A cordon was put in place at around 5.30pm while emergency services dealt with the incident. Traffic along the seafront was affected, with queues reported back towards Greenhill and delays of around 20 minutes in the area.
Dorset Police have since confirmed that the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said officers received a report at 5.07pm on Monday, March 2, of a man in need of medical attention at The Esplanade in Weymouth.
Officers attended alongside the ambulance service, but sadly the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious and the man’s next of kin have been informed.
The force added that their thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.
