A 38-year-old man has been sent for trial after appearing in court charged with 11 child sex offences, among them two counts of rape. Andrew Stuart Ball appeared before Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Friday, February 20. He is accused of two counts of raping a girl, as well as two counts of sexual assault by touching a girl. The alleged offences are said to have occurred in Dorset between July 2020 and February 2025.
No pleas were entered at the hearing because the case is considered too serious to be dealt with at magistrates’ court.
Ball, of Shillingstone near Blandford, is due to appear at Winchester Crown Court on Tuesday, March 24, for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
He was granted conditional bail. The conditions prohibit contact with two named individuals and ban any unsupervised contact with children under 16 unless approved in advance by children’s services.
