Candidates confirmed for Portland by-election

Candidates have been confirmed for the Portland Underhill ward by election. The vote will choose a councillor for Portland Town Council. Four people have been nominated representing different political groups and an independent candidate. Residents in the ward will be able to vote in the upcoming election organised by Dorset Council. The official list of candidates has now been published.

Four candidates have been confirmed for the Portland Underhill ward town council election.

Dorset Council has published the official Statement of Persons Nominated for the election of a councillor to represent the Portland Underhill ward on Portland Town Council.

The candidates standing in the election are Jo Atwell representing the Labour Party, Jenny Cooper representing Independents for Dorset, Lucy Hardwicke representing the Green Party and Giles McManus representing Reform UK.

The published notice confirms that all four individuals have been nominated to stand for the council position, with addresses listed within Dorset in accordance with election rules.

The statement has been issued by Dorset Council’s returning officer as part of the formal election process for the Portland Underhill ward seat.

The election will allow residents in the ward to vote for a councillor who will represent them on Portland Town Council.

Election notices and candidate information have now been formally published as part of the required procedures ahead of the vote.
