A police investigation is under way after a nineteen year old man was injured in Weymouth. Officers were called at nine sixteen on Thursday evening to reports of an assault near the junction of Dorchester Road and Melcombe Avenue. Police say the man suffered a suspected stab wound and was taken to hospital, but his injuries are not believed to be life changing or life threatening. Detectives from Dorset County CID have launched a full investigation and a cordon remains in place. There are no arrests so far, and police say there will be an increased presence in the area.
Weymouth is seeing an increased police presence after a 19 year old man was assaulted near Dorchester Road on Thursday evening.
Dorset Police said officers were called at 9.16pm on Thursday April 16 following a report that the man had been attacked close to the junction of Dorchester Road and Melcombe Avenue. It was reported that he suffered a suspected stab wound and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Police say his injuries are not believed to be life changing or life threatening. Detectives from Dorset County CID have now launched what the force described as a “full investigation”, with a cordon put in place so the scene can be examined.
No arrests had been made at the time of the update. Officers are expected to remain in the area while enquiries continue, and members of the public may notice extra patrols nearby.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said there will be an “increased police presence in the area” and said officers can be approached by anyone with information or concerns.
