AIR 107.2 Signs Lease on New Maiden Street Studios in Weymouth

Wednesday, 18 February 2026 23:16

AIR 107.2 has officially signed the lease on its new town centre premises on Maiden Street, marking a significant new chapter for the community radio station for Weymouth and Portland.

The station’s directors will now begin transforming the empty space into a fully operational broadcast hub, featuring professional studios, dedicated production suites, a meeting and training area, and a live lounge designed to showcase local musicians and performers. The new premises will reunite volunteers and create a dedicated base where presenters, producers and support teams can work side by side. It will also enable the return of local presenters to broadcast from fully equipped professional studios, delivering a stronger and more consistent listening experience.

Managing Director Carl Greenham said: “We are incredibly excited to begin the build and start bringing this vision to life. Moving into Maiden Street gives AIR 107.2 a permanent, visible home right in the centre of the community. Over recent months there has been a huge amount of work taking place behind the scenes to strengthen the station’s structure, output and long term stability. This move allows us to continue raising standards and fully deliver on our Ofcom community key commitments, including training opportunities, encouraging local discussion and remaining accountable to the community we serve. We truly appreciate the support and patience shown while we make these important improvements to the foundations of the station.”

Commercial Director Jamie Lyones added: “This is a landmark moment commercially. A professional town centre base allows us to properly welcome advertisers, hold meetings in a credible setting and build a focused marketing team that will drive sustainable revenue growth. It clearly demonstrates investment in the station’s future and long term sustainability. AIR 107.2 is positioning itself as a strong, reliable media platform that local businesses can confidently partner with as we grow.” AIR 107.2 would like to extend a sincere thank you to Mark, Nikki and the team at Hull Gregson & Hull Weymouth for their support throughout the leasing process. Fit out work will begin shortly, with further updates to follow as progress continues.
