Editorial Guidelines

AIR FM CIC is committed to producing content that is accurate, fair, responsible and reflective of the community we serve. These guidelines set out the standards expected of everyone involved in creating content for AIR 107.2 FM.
Who These Guidelines Apply To
These guidelines apply to:
• Presenters
• Volunteers
• Staff
• Contributors
• Guests
They cover all content broadcast on AIR 107.2 FM and published online.
Editorial Responsibility
AIR FM CIC has overall editorial control of all content broadcast on the station.
All content must comply with the Ofcom Broadcasting Code.
Accuracy and Fairness
We aim to:
• Broadcast accurate information
• Correct errors promptly
• Distinguish clearly between fact and opinion
• Treat individuals and organisations fairly
Harm and Offence
Content must not include:
• Hate speech
• Discrimination
• Abusive or threatening language
• Content likely to cause serious offence
Presenters should consider the likely audience at all times.
Impartiality
News and factual programming must be presented with due impartiality.
Personal opinions must be clearly identified and must not mislead listeners.
Privacy
We respect the privacy of individuals.
Personal information should not be broadcast without consent unless there is a clear public interest and legal justification.
Children and Vulnerable People
Special care must be taken when content involves children or vulnerable adults.
Consent must be obtained where appropriate and safeguarding principles must always be followed.
Music and Copyright
All music and audio content must be broadcast in line with licensing agreements.
Unauthorised use of copyrighted material is not permitted.
Advertising and Sponsorship
Advertising and sponsored content must:
• Be clearly identifiable
• Comply with Ofcom rules
• Not mislead listeners
Editorial content must remain independent of commercial influence.
Social Media and Online Content
These guidelines apply equally to:
• Station social media accounts
• Website content
• Podcasts and on demand audio
Presenters are responsible for ensuring online content reflects station values.
Compliance and Breaches
Failure to follow these guidelines may result in:
• Content being removed
• Further training
• Suspension or removal of broadcasting privileges
Complaints
Complaints relating to editorial content will be handled in line with the station’s Complaints Policy.
Review
These guidelines will be reviewed regularly to ensure they remain current and effective.
