About AIR

Local Radio. Properly Local.

AIR is Dorset’s community radio station - broadcasting across Weymouth and Portland on 107.2 FM, online, and through our dedicated live events stream, AIR Xtra.

Launched in 2011 as an online school station before gaining its FM licence in 2012, AIR was created to give the community a platform to be heard - and that purpose remains at the heart of everything today.

Who’s Behind AIR?

AIR is operated by AIR FM Community Interest Company, a not for profit organisation serving the local area.

The station is led by Jamie Lyones, Chief Executive Officer , who’s driving a fresh era of stronger local news, expanded sports coverage and a tighter, more dynamic sound building long term sustainability for genuine local broadcasting, while also leading the station’s news output as Chief News Editor.

Behind the scenes is a passionate team of presenters, volunteers and contributors who power the station every day.

AIR Xtra

AIR Xtra is our dedicated live stream for sports commentary, music festivals and major community events.

It runs online as its own channel and key moments can be brought onto FM when needed - giving us total flexibility to cover Dorset properly, without compromise.
